Random SXSW thoughts

Sittin in Houston Airport, waiting for the connecting flight to Heathrow. I guess this means an end to my SXSW journey. Its been a hard 12 days but fun at the same time. Some random thoughts as they come to me...

America (Texas, as I've never been anywhere else) is fucking big.

You've seen it often enough on the movies, it's always hot.... Take sunscreen.

A 16oz Strip Steak is more than one man should consume in a single sitting (even one as big as myself)

Whatever they feed their cows in Texas, we need to feed our English cows....

Chicken Fried Steak is indeed steak covered in KFC style coating...

There is too much information shoved into your brain over 4 days for you to assimilate... a quiet time is needed on your return to unravel it and make sense of it all so it can be of benefit, not just "noise".

The earplugs given to you in your SXSWMusic swag bag are there for a reason... Use them.

Lemmy is 49% motherfucker, 51% son of a bitch...

If you take time to talk to people in the corridors you can learn as much from there as you can in the sessions...

Old age means I would rather go for an awesome meal with friends than go out and party every night...

Shuffleboard takes awesome skill...

Sometimes it takes going half way across the world to find new friends close to home...

After living and working together for nearly 20 years, 12 days away from my wife is too long... (I love you Julia!)

You can buy an iPhone from a vending machine...

No matter how many styles or colours of Stetson I tried on, I still look like a twat in a cowboy hat!

When the man in the Boot shop says break them in a couple of hours at a time, don't ignore him and wear them on a 18 hour day.... pain insues.

Jalapenos go with everything... I mean everything!

Peanut brittle should never be made with salted peanuts...

When the waiter at a restaurant says, "I'll get your change sir." What they really mean is "you don't want any change do you??"

You can have a music festival take over the town with 15000 people with a minimal Police presence...

McDonalds tastes just as shit here as it does back home...

If you like tea, bring tea bags, America doesn't do tea!

I will write up something proper about my experience over here but in the meantime, these random thoughts are the ones that have come to me during my 7 hour layover in Houston Airport.
