Motorhead

Looking for some Flyovershow archive video today I can across these two pieces I shot for HomeofMetal while I was over in SXSWi 2010. Don't think I ever put them on the blog at the time so here they are...

The first is a short montage type edit using footage from the day which covered the crew of the "Lemmy" documentary (as well as the man himself) arriving at the Cinema for the premiere. That was followed up with a conversation with Lemmy & Johnny Doom at the British Music Embassy and the evening ended with a Motorhead gig at Stubbs BBQ.

Truly the loudest experience of my life. I was allowed to get up on stage for the first 4 songs to grab closeups before being moved to the side. Awesome to be up there and to experience their music in a totally different way. From up on stage the music is beyond an audio experience, its if felt by every molecule in your body. This is the raw sound out of the camera so distorted as hell, just let the camera roll for a while...

This is @chamonixdiva's favourite film and so we popped down early on Sunday morning to see if we could find it nice and quiet. She popped into Trump Tower to the Starbucks to get herself a Hot Chocolate and a donut. Didn't expect to find the windows all "christmassed up" but we whipped out the camera and shot a few bits anyway.

This is a test post from Blogsy for iPad & iPhone by Fomola. From the websites intro video it seems like a great app, allowing you to output great looking posts, even when mobile. ( just 'cause it's mobile doesn't mean it has to be shit!). It allows for resizing of photos, text formatting, easy link adding with a built in browser as well as plugging into your YouTube, Flickr and Picassa accounts for easy dropping in of video and photos. Seems quite buggy at the moment. Lost this post twice while I was typing it. Forum says there is a new update lodged with apple so hopefully it will sort out the tweaks.
 
Plugs into your Wordpress, Posterous or Blogger sites with more coming in future updates. 
 
Once it's sorted it may help me to blog a bit more. I don't know wether that's a good thing or a bad thing. We may just find out...

After a crazy, fun but late night, streaming an interview with Andrew Strauss from the Long Room at Lords Cricket Ground (MCC), it was up at the crack of dawn (3hrs sleep) to prep for Lara Ratnaraja's event "Hello Culture" - part of the "Hello Digital" week.

Despite some venue technical issues (no internet for the internet stream) the day was a great success with many interesting discussions started. Hopefully the delegates will continue the discussion amongst themselves and also invite others to join in further conversation

Although the live stream is over, all the content from the day, plus loads of audio clips and photos are archived over at HelloCulture11

One of the things we decided to try was no phone, TV or Internet in the house. Having a leased line at work anything we needed to do could be done from the office at blistering speeds. The middle phase of #thebigplan was to move offices, little did we know we would be in the new offices for 7 weeks before the new lines would be installed. This made things difficult at home for @chamonixdiva & @xxmilkyxx who needed to use the 'net most days for home working and general learning resources. Hoping our work connection would be resolved sooner rather than later we opted to try 3G dongles and a MIFI to keep ourselves going. Not only did this prove to be painstakingly slow but expensive as well as the cost of mobile broadband is insanely high, some days were costing £5 per day for the usage.

This seemed to cause the opposite effect to what we were looking for, spending more of our "together" time online with rising tempers and distress. Finally, 6 months less 3 days we lost the battle and gave in to the pull of a reasonably priced, reasonably fast monthly Internet connection at home. Although I feel a little defeated I feel reasonably sure that, had we not had such a prolonged interruption with the office connection we would still be "offline" at home.

That said I can't say I'm not enjoying having it back and as u can see from the short clip, the kids have settled right back in. @xxmilkyxx seems quite at home on his "Joey & Chandler chair", watching 4OD on his laptop, shooting some bad guys online on BlackOps whilst updating his Facebook on his iPhone on the arm of the chair. The only difference now is that as soon as I upload this my call of " someone help me with dinner" will once more fall upon deaf ears.

Quite a lot of the crazier things we do these days seem to start from a tweet and last mondays happenings were no exception. An random idea, tweeted by @danslee, @cyberdoyle & @johnpopham snowballed as these things often do and became the smashing bank-holiday success that was #twicket.

Starting off small, as it was a bank holiday so we thought we would have to run on a skeleton crew, the first idea was to use a few well placed webcams and stream them individually so viewers could see all the views concurrently. Quickly though the two newest members of #teamawesome, @shakka_khan & @lenny_khan, keen to come along too, managed to remind me that we don't do things by halves and soon the job had ballooned into a 3 broadcast camera shoot with vision mixer to deliver an edited piece live to the screens.

The weather was spectacular, bringing hundreds of people from miles around to watch the match. Commentary was provided by the lovely Brenda who proved to be more popular with the audience at times than the cricket match itself. Watched live by 2740 people and seen to date by 5000 it proved to be an amazingly successful day for all and managed to bring the issue of Rural Broadband to the fore in an exciting and quirky way.
